Please donate today to help keep the Youghiogheny River Clean! The Bioswales in Ohiopyle serve a vital role in the preservation of the Youghiogheny River. The Bioswales are designed to capture and filter storm water run-off, effectively cleaning the run-off water before it reaches the Youghiogheny River. Clean water and the purity of the Youghiogheny River is the life of Ohiopyle.
The Bioswales in Ohiopyle were completely renovated in the Spring of 2018 as Peter Livengood’s Eagle Scout Service Project, “Blooming Bioswales for a Better River”. During the course of the project, Peter completed/directed over 1,600 hours of community service. The Bioswales have been fully restored. However, the Bioswales will need routine maintenance to stay beautiful and serve their conservation purpose.

As part of Peter’s Eagle Scout Project, he has set up a maintenance fund to pay for the upkeep of the Bioswales. Maintenance is a key factor in the effectiveness of Bioswales, but the funding for the Ohiopyle Bioswales is provided completely by donations.
Please consider donating to the Ohiopyle Bioswale Maintenance Fund. Your donation will help keep the Youghiogheny River clean. Over 1.5 million visitors pass through Ohiopyle each year and keeping the Bioswales beautiful helps brighten everyone’s visit. Your donation will go directly into an Ohiopyle Borough managed fund that is specifically earmarked for the Maintenance of the Bioswales. All money in this fund will be used to offset material and labor costs.
