Support N.E.G. Playhouse During COVID-19 Outbreak

Donation protected

Dear Friends,

I have dedicated my whole life to working with children. Growing up, my mother ran a daycare center out of our home, where I was always eager to lend her a helping hand. When I turned 11 years old, I became a certified sitter, and in high school I volunteered at my church nursery. If I wasn’t working on homework or caring for kids, you’d find me at the gym (I spent 16 years as a competitive gymnast, training for some of the most prestigious gyms in the country.) Unfortunately, an underlying shoulder injury came to surface as I was going into my Senior Year of high school - forcing me to end my career early. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it led me to my true passion for coaching.

After 9 years of coaching and 15 years of nanny/sitting experience, I had discovered a few needs that were missing within the community. The needs I discovered were 1.) more playtime opportunities for younger children that encourages movement, 2.) a wider range of activities that encourages movement, 3.) a community that offers resources and friendships for families.

On January 13th of this year, the N.E.G. Playhouse opened doors for the first time in Spring Hill, Tennessee with the intensions of meeting ALL those needs listed above. Prior to opening, there were many unforeseen challenges that came along. Therefore I decided to start with a “soft-opening” to ensure we had most of our kinks out of the way by the time our Grand Opening took place.

To kick-off the Grand Opening Weekend, Friday, February 21st, the Spring Hill Chamber of Commerce co-hosted the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the N.E.G. Playhouse. On Saturday, February 22nd, the party continued with an Open House for the community. The turn out for this weekend was INCREDIBLE!! We had a packed house with hundreds of people attending. My heart was so touched by the support of the community and everyone who helped make this event such a success.

Following the Grand Opening, we were extremely busy with so much engagement and sign-ups from families. Unfortunately, it wasn’t long after when the COVID-19 outbreak hit close to home. As we operate in Williamson County (where a large portion of the cases in TN reside), and are an extracurricular activity for children, we were one of the first businesses to feel the affect. At first I thought I was doing something wrong, but then I realize this fight against COVID-19 is outside my control. By Tuesday, March 17th, I decided it was in the best interest of our students, staff, and families to temporarily close our doors and promote social distancing.

The N.E.G. Playhouse has only just begun serving the families of this community and I am not ready to throw in the towel just yet. I believe there is something magical that happens here, from children building self-confidence to parents finding new friendships. While I will continue to do everything I can to serve families during this time of social distancing, I am asking for your support to ensure we can re-open our doors when it is safe for children to return to normal activities. Quickbooks & GoFundMe have partnered together to help kickstart the Small Business Relief Initiative Campaign. Your donation will support the operational costs of N.E.G. Playhouse during this COVID-19 outbreak. #SmallBusinessRelief
