Hello,
Mia's Cafe in Pawcatuck, CT has been a local staple eatery in the community for almost 6 years.
I love serving the Westerly- Pawcatuck community. I have enjoyed supporting many charity events including being on the Board of Bricks and Murals, Vice President of the Downtown Business Association and many other projects.
Our locals love to gather here at Mia's; sharing a cup of coffee, cocktail or a meal. There is hardly a day that a local can't be seated with out saying hello to a fellow neighbor or friend. We LOVE that at Mia's!
Mia's staff is hurting just like many other industries, I am trying to figure out how to get my staff of 19 paid; to support their families, pay their bills, etc.
I am struggling just to serve take out on the busiest days, Friday- Sunday, keeping the electric and gas on, buying groceries and more.
Im not worried about keeping my head afloat but supporting my very dedicated staff from drowning.
Some of my team members have worked in the building from 4 to 18 years, some prior to when I took it over in 2014.
Those being in the "tipped" industry, this pandemic will paralyze many of us and sadly others will not survive. My wish and hope for Mia's Cafe is to be able to continue to be part of this wonderful Westerly- Pawcatuck community we would love to continue to be the "place to meet".
Coming from the corporate world for over 20 years and choosing to branch out on my own is the most rewarding and hardest task I have ever accomplished.
We look forward to seeing our locals and our summer locals too!
We love that they share their stories with us, they tell us about their families, new babies, becoming grandparents and more!
This COVID-19 will surely pass at some point and with the hopes of hearing some great positive stories ahead, I hope Mia's Cafe will be one of them.
