Diabetes is Hard. Getting Help shouldn’t be! Over 70 percent of Nigerians living with diabetes or pre-diabetes do not know it. The chances are that you or someone you love is affected by the disease and this is the reason we must continue the fight. We put your donations to work by helping people with diabetes literally add years to life. “20 years ago, my dad’s‟ diabetes was diagnosed by sugar ants in a Federal Medical Centre in Nigeria, several days after he was admitted after having suffered a cardiovascular stroke. He lived thirteen glorious years after that incident” My mission is to draw the worlds attention to the Diabetes epidemic and unacceptable ratios of infant mortality on the African continent and to raise funding for the #UkampalaHealthcare Primary Healthcare Africa 2021-2025 Project.  Our 2020/21 goal is to raise enough money through your free will donations to support tens of thousands of diabetic patients on the African continent ease the distress placed on families by the physical, financial and emotional impact of the disease by offering educational/counselling services , and making blood glucose test kits, diabetes medication available at highly discounted rates or FREE at Help-BEAT-Diabetes-Care Centres. With your support, our capacity to save lives will be expanded; not only across Nigeria, but into two equally needy nations; Malawi and Sierra Leone. ·        Add as much as 10 years to a patient’s life span ·       Save the patient from blindness and limb amputations ·       Reduce the risks of developing cardiovascular ailments like stroke and heart attacks ·       Avoid the often unaffordable healthcare bills in managing kidney failures etc. The horrible consequence of poorly managed diabetes is not far from any one of us.....  We (Help-BEAT Diabetes Care) attended scores of Diabetes Clinics in hospitals across the country where we found that greater than 80% of patients cannot afford a glucometer (an essential tool in the self-monitoring and management of diabetes). In our local community  we found that medication non-compliance due to poverty, ignorance of the basic self-management skills, local traditions and beliefs cost families and society dearly. To count the scheme as successful, we hope to be supporting tens of thousands of diabetic patients in Nigeria, Malawi and Sierra Leone annually by 2023.  We provide the tool kits, medicines and services through the Help-BEAT Diabetes Care Centers.  It’s a free will donation. You learn that;   "Living with fear stops us taking risks, and if we don't go out on the branch you are never going to get the best fruit". - Sarah Parish   DIABETES STATISTICS - NIGERIA (AFRICA) * It is estimated that 1 of every 55 adults have diabetes - Nigeria’s diabetes national prevalence (18-99 years) is 1.8% * In 2017 Nigeria is estimated to have 1,731,811 diabetics aged 18-99 years * Nigeria is in the Top 5 Countries in Africa for number of people with diabetes (Age: 18-99 years), 2017. * Africa is the region with the highest percentage of undiagnosed people – 70% of people with diabetes do not know they have it. * In Africa, 3 out of 4 (73%) deaths due to diabetes were people under age 60 – the highest proportion among the regions of the world. * 1 in 10 live births are affected by hyperglycaemia in pregnancy * Only $3.4 billion was spent on healthcare for people with diabetes in 2017 – less than 1% of the global expenditure and the lowest amount of all 7 regions.
